Holiday Spiked Cider

I remember the first holiday in which I tried spiked hot apple cider.  I had no idea how good it would be.  If you have yet to try spiked cider, once you do, you won't believe what you've been missing.

Just in time for the holiday season, here are some holiday spiked cider drink recipes for you.

Bakon Vodka

Everyone I have talked to about Bakon Vodka, even though the flavor sounds so unique, just simply loves the taste!

What first pops into your mind when you hear the words bacon and vodka, are breakfast and bloody mary.  However, Bakon Vodka has come up with a huge variety of drink recipes for you.  Here are just a few from their web site.

Swine Flu Shot

1 part Bakon Vodka
1 part Jagermeister
1 part Goldschlager

Orange Bakon Bomb

Bakon Vodka with float of Orange Curacao in shot glass
Drop in Red Bull

Black Rock Manhattan

1 part Bakon Vodka
1 part bourbon
1/2 part Kahlua
1/2 part triple sec

Shake vigorously with ice, serve straight up or on the rocks with a cherry.

And of course, we can't leave out the blood mary drink recipe with Bakon Vodka, so here are a couple of those for you as well, also from their web site.

Bakon Mary

1-1/2 ounce Bakon Vodka in a pint glass filled with ice.
Fill glass with tomatoe juice.
1 dash each of celery salt and ground black pepper.
2-4 dashes each of Worcestershire sauce and tobasco.

Shake and pour into a salt rimmed pint glass.  Garnish with a celery stalk and your favorite pickled vegetables.

The Greek Martini (even though it's called a martini, it drinks like a bloody mary)

2 parts Bakon Vodka
1 part pepperoncini juice
1 pepperoncini
dash of pepper
splash of clamato juice

Enjoy, and remember to drink responsibly!

How to Stock Your Bar for Thanksgiving

As the holiday approaches, many of us can't help to stop and ask, "how should I stock my bar for Thanksgiving Day?"

In general, to stock your bar for Thanksgiving, combine a variety without being too specific.  An inexpensive sparkling sweet white wine and a semi-dry red wine will usually suit most anyone who has a taste for wine with dinner.  It is also a good idea to have a bourbon and a vodka on hand.

Along with these choices, both a full flavored and a light beer in a cooler, will usually satisfy most who enjoy a good brew with dinner.  Add couple of soda and juice varieties, to complete your bar for the holiday.

Perhaps a different size and color of cup for the kiddies should be in order.

Consider fixing an after dinner treat that will go well with desert, such as Spiked Apple Cider.

Spiked Apple Cider is quite easy to make.  Simply add 1-1/2 ounces of whiskey or bourbon to 8 ounces of apple cider, then heat in the microwave.  Multiply by the number of servings and heat in a cooker on the stove in order to serve a large group.

Don't forget the ice, and remember to always drink responsibly!

Crown Royal Maple

You're all familiar with the original Crown Royal Whisky.  Now try Crown Royal Maple Finished.

Crown Royal describes the new flavor as "The legendary taste of Crown Royal with a touch of natural maple flavor."

Here's a drink recipe for you from Crown Royal.

Crown Royal Maple Cider

ingredients:

1-1/2 ounces of Crown Royal Maple Whisky
2 ounces of apple cider
1/2 pat of butter, for garnish
1 cinnamon stick, for garnish

directions:

Dry shake ingredients and pour into a coffee mug.  Top with hot water.  Garnish with the pat of butter and cinnamon stick.

Here's a tip for you, before we go, whisky is spelled without an e when it is distilled in Canada.  When it is distilled in the U.S., it is spelled whiskey.
