Ghost Cosmo Drink Recipe

Ingredients:

• 2 ounces Jacob's Ghost White Whiskey
• 1 ounce John DeKuyper & Sons 03 Premium Orange Liqueur
• 1 ounce white cranberry juice
• 1/2 ounce fresh lime juice

Directions:
Shake all ingredients with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with cranberries.

2014 Kentucky Bourbon Festival Official Drink

Each year, the Kentucky Bourbon Festival has a contest to determine the Official Drink of the festival for next year.  In 2013, the 2014 Official Drink Grand Champion was the Old Talbott Tavern with the drink "A sidecar named "Desire".

Here's the drink recipe for you.

A Sidecar Named "Desire"

Ingredients:
2 ounces Bourbon (of course)
1/2 ounce lemon juice
1/2 ounce Cointreau
2 ounces Apple Cider
2 ounces fresh Strawberry Simple Syrup

Directions:
Pour ingredients in a shaker.  Strain into a martini glass. Garnish with fresh strawberries.

UV Citrus
Blue Curacao
Orange Juice

Directions:
Pour ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. Pour into a tall glass and garnish with an orange wedge and a cherry.

The Seelbach Cocktail

Ingredients:

• 1 ounce Kentucky Bourbon
• 1/2 ounce Triple Sec
• 7 dashes Angostura bitters
• 7 dashes Peychaud's bitters
• 5 ounces Champagne

Directions:
Build in the order given in a champagne flute.  Garnish with an orange twist. 

Note:  This cocktail with a twist was created in 1918 at Louisville's very own Seelbach Hotel.

Ingredients:

2 ounces Kentucky Bourbon
3/4 ounce Sweet Vermouth
1 cherry

Directions:

Stir and strain into pre-chilled cocktail glass.  Garnish with cherry.

Official Drink of the 2013 Kentucky Bourbon Festival

Each year, during the Kentucky Bourbon Festival, a Mixed Drink Challenge determines the Official Drink of the next year's Bourbon Festival.  A number of area bars and restaurants compete for the drink that will hold the title.

Without further ado.

Kentucky Bourbon Festival 2013 Official Drink

"Oak" Fashioned

Ingredients:

2 ounces bourbon
1/2 ounce Apple Brandy
1/4 ounce Dry Curacao
1/2 teaspoon turbinado sugar
1/8 ounce blood orange bitters
Splash club soda

Directions:

Muddle sugar and bitters in rocks glass. Other ingredients are aged in charred white oak barrel and previously married. Fill glass with barrel aged spirits and stir to combine. Garnish with macerated apple balls.

Special instructions:
Bourbon, Apple Brandy and Dry Curacao are married and aged together in new charred white oak barrel for at least two weeks.

With the Kentucky Derby just around the corner, I decided to post the Mint Julep Drink Recipe for you.

Mint Julep Drink Recipe

Ingredients:

2 cups sugar

2 cups water

Sprigs of fresh mint

Crushed ice

Early Times Kentucky Whisky

Silver Julep Cups

Directions:

Make a simple syrup by boiling sugar and water together for five minutes. Cool and place in a covered container with six or eight sprigs of fresh mint, then refrigerate overnight. Make one julep at a time by filling a julep cup with crushed ice, adding one tablespoon mint syrup and two ounces of Early Times Kentucky Whisky. Stir rapidly with a spoon to frost the outside of the cup. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.
